HVPS for Soft Gamma-ray Detector, Hard X-ray Imager and Soft X-ray Spectrometer (ASTRO-H)
Invited by ESA/JAXA for a direct negotiation, SITAEL is developing, in the frame of a contract with OHB, the High Voltage Power Supplies (HVPS) for the Si/APD (+600 V / 20uA) and CdTe (+1250V / 10uA) sensors of Soft Gamma ray Detector and of Hard X-ray Imager, and for Soft X-ray Spectrometer (-11.3 KV / 50uA) of the ASTRO-H satellites.
The HVPS have the following common features: Remotely programmable output voltage, Low ripple and high output voltage stability, Output voltage analog monitor, HV enable signal.

HVPS for Avalanche Photo Diodes and Photo Multiplier Tubes (CALET)
SITAEL is developing the HVPS Brick for Avalanche Photo Diodes (APDs) and Photo Multiplier Tubes (PMTs) of the Calorimeter Electron Telescope (CALET) Experiment to be installed on ISS Japanese Experiment Module. The HVPS Brick has 22 Main + 22 Redundant output channels for APDs (0 to +1250 V/ 500 μA) and 80 Main + 80 Redundant linearly regulated independent output channels for PMTs (0 to -900V / 150uA).
The HVPS have the following common features: Remotely programmable output voltage, Overcurrent protection on each channel, Low ripple and high output voltage stability, Output voltage analog monitor, HV enable signal.

CEFI HVPS and LVPS (SWARM)
As subcontractor of the Canadian company COM DEV, SITAEL took care of the development of the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS) and High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS) Units for the Canadian Electric Field Instrument (CEFI).
The LVPS generates six very low noise filtered output voltages (3.3 V, 5 V, -5 V, +15 V, -15 V, +30 V) for other electronics within the Swarm CEFI instrument from a not regulated input bus (22V ÷ 34V). The HVPS generates high voltages for two independent sensors.
Each sensor has a micro-channel plate (MCP), a phosphor, a bias grid and a shutter grid that require supply voltages.
The HVPS is supplied by +/-5V and provides eight independently controlled voltages (- 2400 V, + 8000 V, – 100V, + 100 V for each of the two sensors).

JEM-X HVPS (INTEGRAL)
SITAEL designed and produced the Engineer Model, Qualification Model and Flight Models of the 6KV/30mA High Voltage power supply systems for the INTEGRAL/JEM-X Microstrip Gas Chamber.
The JEM-X HV power supplies, launched in orbit with the INTEGRAL satellite on October 17th 2002, are successfully working.
Their smooth operation showed so far proves the reliability of the SITAEL vacuum-borne products.

SAMPIF
SITAEL was the prime contractor in the Italian Space Agency (ASI) SAMPIF project, devoted to the development of a Focal Planes (CCD) Multi-Output Low Power supplies.
SAMPIF generates five (5V, ±15V, ± 33V) output voltages from a not regulated input bus (24V ÷ 50V).

SAR TGU DC/DC Converters (Sentinel1)
SITAEL, as subcontractor of Astrium UK, is in charge of the DC/DC Converters development for the SAR Electronics Sub-system Transmit Gain Unit (TGU) on board of the ESA Sentinel 1 satellite.
The DC/DC Converter supplies an ASIC monitor/control circuit and a RF Pulsed Power Amplifier, generating six voltage outputs from a 28V input bus. The maximum output power is 42W.

SRAL-C Ku RFU DC/DC Converters (Sentinel3)
SITAEL, as subcontractor of Thales Alenia Space, developed the DC/DC Converter for the SRAL-C Ku (SAR Radar and ALtimeter) Radio Frequency Unity (RFU) which is one of the instrument embarked on the Sentinel-3 satellite. The DC/DC Converter delivers 6 output voltages to the RFU: 5V and +6V regulated rails and +6.2V, -6V, -40V and +30V not regulated.
It will implement latching output overload and short circuit protections, providing input current monitor and temperature telemetry too.

MMFU PSB (EarthCARE)
SITAEL, as subcontractor of SYDERAL, is developing the Mass Memory and Formatting Unit (MMFU) Power Supply Boards (PSB) for the EarthCARE ESA Mission.
The PSB provides 5 output rails (+5V, +3.4V, +1.8V, -12.25V and +1.5V) for the Controller and Mass Memory Boards. The main features are: Input in-rush current control, Common mode and differential input noise filters, Input under-voltage protection, Input reverse polarity protection, Over-load and output short-circuit protection, Output filters, Magnetic feedback, Open Loop Gain specs: PM > 60°; GM > 10dB.

PDHU PSB (GAIA)
SITAEL, as subcontractor of SYDERAL, developed the Power Supply Boards (PSB) for the Payload Data Handling Unit (PDHU) of the GAIA Satellite.
Two identical PSB are used inside the PDHU running in cold or in hot redundancy. Each PSB accommodates two DC/DC converters (DC/DC #1 and DC/DC #2) with independent input power buses (28V nominal). DC/DC #1 provides five output rails (+5V, +3.3V, +2.5V, +1.8V and +1.5V) for the Controller Boards and works in cold redundancy, while DC/DC #2 generates two output voltages (+12V and +3.3V) for the Mass Memory Boards and works in hot redundancy.
The main features of each DC/DC converter are: Common mode and differential input noise filter, Input under-voltage protection, Input reverse polarity protection, Over-load and output short-circuit protection, Output filters, Magnetic feedback, Open Loop Gain specs: PM > 60°; GM > 10dB.

PPCU HVPS for FEEP
SITAEL developed the HV power supply system of the μNewton FEEP (Field Emission Electric Propulsion) Power Processing and Control Unit (PPCU).
The system includes the HV modules, the power regulation block, the control and protection module, telecommands and telemetries. The SITAEL HV modules supplied the ALTA FEEP simulator installed on board of the Rubin-II mission, a small satellite for technology demonstration, privately owned and developed by Fuchs Group.
Furthermore, in the framework of a collaboration with the Austrian Research Center, SITAEL produced a High Voltage Engineering Model Module for ARCS FEEP, successfully tested up to 12 kV.

Low Power 50W-200W Hall Propulsion
SITAEL is involved in the development of component technologies for low power 50W-200W Hall Propulsion Systems.
In particular, the Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit (PCDU) is entirely designed and manufactured by SITAEL.
